Our studio location here in Western Canada's Fruit &
Wine Country, has prompted teachers and students to
request that I offer Seminars and Workshops here at my
'Home Studio'
The Studio is located in a lovely residential
neighborhood that is within walking distance of several
nearby orchards & vineyards.

Many of the local attractions are within minutes and
include a visit to the neighborhood fruit stand only a
few hundred yards away.... around the corner....
Studio seminars are unique, and cover a new topic at
each seminar. They may include one, or several different
subjects. i.e. Wildlife, Floral, Ocean Life, Landscapes
or still life, etc.
If you or someone you know, would like to be on my
mailing list for these Seminars, please contact me by
email or check this page to see new additions as they
are added.

Traditions Education Program visits the 'roots' of
decorative painting - this not only creates an
appreciation for the historical styles, but provides an
interesting vehicle to teach the mechanics and
art theory necessary for moving forward.

strong foothold and the roots are well developed and
well planted”

As
artists we need to preserve our 'heritage' and build a
bridge to traditional Fine Art.
The
intent of this program is to lay a strong foundation and
create the 'bridge' for future lessons which moves the
artist into more refined Traditional Decorative Art as
well as Traditional Fine Art and then onward towards
'critical thinking' as an independent artist. Which we
believe is the ultimate goal of every artist.

Tip -
Mixing
To begin
mixing, start with the basics...
for green - start with a little blue and yellow --
Too bright - add a 'toner' of one of the earth colours
either Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Raw Sienna or Burnt
Sienna, or use a little of the compliment of green which
is red. - A toner help 'quiet-en' the colour.. so
instead of the colour being too bright it makes it
softer and easier to live with. It lowers the intensity
of the colour.
To lighten add white, or more Yellow,
To darken add a little Black.
Each addition will teach a different lesson as the
results will be like mini discoveries. Take it slow and
steady and document what you do. If you use a chocolate
chip size measure for example, document how many
chocolate chips you use of each colour!
There you go, you are mixing greens!
